Fight Hunger—One Slice Of Bread At A Time

If you saw the depiction of Jesus in a piece of bread, what would you do? I know it sounds crazy and all, Jesus’ image just miraculous appearing in your food, but Guy has been spotted in hot chocolate, dental x-rays and shrimp. He’s even been seen surrounding the anal area of Angus MacDougall, a three-year-old terrier. I guess guy really is everywhere… even the places that would sicken the normal man. So what would you do if the big guy came calling via a piece of bread? According to someone called CJA you should: “Say a prayer for yourself and your sinfulness. Take the piece of bread to a Catholic priest and have him evaluate your discovery. If he finds the likeness of Christ defined enough to justify calling it such, he will tell you WHAT to do next.”

I find a lot of problems with CJA’s statement, but I’ll just ask the most nagging: since when did Catholic priests become art critics?

Speaking of art and goodness and all, the Bread Art Project is something I can get down with. Grain Foods Foundation came up with the idea to help raise awareness of the growing hunger problem in the United States. The basic idea is to turn a piece of bread into a canvas for a good cause. Go to their site, upload your drawing or photo on a piece of digital bread and you’ve made bread art. Super simple. For each piece of bread art created, the Grain Foods Foundation will donate $1 to Feeding America, up to $50,000.
