I just stumbled across this treasure — the entire body of Calvin and Hobbes cartoons published in a tribute three-book boxset titled The Complete Calvin and Hobbes. Not only is Calvin and Hobbes a LIAS all time favorite, but it is unquestionably one of the most popular comic strips of all time. After launching in 1985 and appearing in more than 2,400 newspapers, Bill Watterson retired Calvin and his tiger on January 1, 1996 to the profound sadness of readers worldwide, and once again relegated the inaptly named funny pages to the dregs of newspaper content. Composed of three hardcover, four-color volumes in a sturdy slipcase, this edition includes all Calvin and Hobbes cartoons that ever appeared in syndication. Now that’s a lot of genius. Retailing for $150, you can pick it up at Amazon for $94.50.
