Ann-Sofie Back has made the dripping sunglasses she premiered in last fall’s runway show into an aviator style set for the Spring 2010 season. As of now, I’m not exactly sure what I think. To state the obvious, they just look as if you left them on the dashboard of your car in the middle of a hot July day — sun-baked and melted cheap glasses. Although they have piqued my interest enough to get me thinking, to make them really interesting the drip effect should have probably been even more exaggerated. Then again, its a difficult thing to walk the fine line between the normal and the absurd. They’re charming enough to own, but not necessarily charming enough to wear in public. In addition to that, they’re being sold for $285, and I’d rarely pay that much for a quality pair of aviators, let alone one which has already begun to melt. They come in ‘smoke’, as featured above, and a ‘bright red’, if you’re the non-traditional type. You know, the type who would probably buy these glasses in the first place. If you’re looking for a different kind of sun wear this coming Spring, the smoke editions are on-sale at Opening Ceremony.
