Minnesota’s Dosh has been consistently producing some of the best head music for about a decade now — beats heavily layered in staccato rhythms, droning samples and a hypnotic use of melodies on par with very few contemporary producers. Tommy, his fifth album for Anticon, hit shelves on April 13th and this is the first video from the album, “Airlift”. Also below is the stream for his track “Number 41” with frequent collaborator Andrew Bird (Bird used “First Impossible” off Dosh’s superb 2008 LP Wolves & Wishes as the rhythmic backbone for a song on his critically acclaimed Noble Beast LP.) The two have been collaborating, recording and touring since 2005, and their work has only gotten stronger. Multi-instrumentalist Martin Dosh hoped to conceive thicker terrain for his already textured soundscapes for his latest album — more drums, more vocals, and new to the Dosh catalog, lots of low end. Pick it up if you like what you hear below.
