When interviewing Mark Ronson about 5 or so years ago I remember he was all excited cos he’d just found a “new sound” that he was really jazzed about, and played us a Radiohead cover which he recorded in his Amy Winehouse/Big Band sound. As much as I loved it, I remember thinking there’s no way that sound would get traction in the US. Boy was I wrong. Now it’s half a decade later and Ronson has evolved from “celebrity DJ” to legitimate producing powerhouse. If this first single “Bang Bang Bang” (featuring QTIP and MNDR) is any indication, then his new album The Record Collection (out July 11th) should be worth the wait…
