PG's Blacktrail will only run you about $80,000

PG Bikes has just released the Blacktrail, a new electric bike in conjunction with UBC who are famed for their body work in Formula 1 racing. PG Bikes will only release 667 Blacktrails, each zero emission bicycle fully composed of carbon fiber, titanium, magnesium and aluminum. The bike can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h, which is extremely fast for an electric bike. The bike’s design is innovative and creative, crafted from a unique mix of carbon fiber for strength and lightness with leather for comfort and luxury. The eco-minded electric engine features a lithium-ion battery pack with a range of 200km on a single 150 minute charge. The only problem holding potential buyers back is the pricetag — at roughly $80,000 (60,000 Euros), why not invest in a Porsche 911 instead? Or a Ducati, an Audi S5 and a moped — plus a half dozen fixies thrown in if you really want to get your pedal on.

  1. Uncle B says:

This is proof positive that such technical achievements are possible! Now: Replicate this in Chinese factories in mass production quantities, sell it world wide, and bring the price to a reasonable level by mass marketing! The first, hand made car cost a great deal too! It took Henry Ford’s ingenuity to sell it to the larger part of humanity!
All is not lost in the steep price tag! Greedy people the world over will see the potential and change a few things, make it better even, and sell it for a profit – just watch the corporatists work on this one!
