Perhaps my all time favorite frames, the classic Persol 714 — which were immortalized by Steve McQueen — are being re-issued. In a new line by Persol of classic McQueen 714s, the trademark blue lenses, tortoise frames and folding body are making a comeback. The frame comes from a single piece of acetate, broken at three points for the folding hinges. They then go through a finishing process that creates a seamless silhouette and extra comfortable body. The collection is based on McQueen’s three favorite colorways and will be limited to only 10,000 handmade pieces. They’ll be available starting next month for $360.
