This year at the New York Comic Con a collective called The Cultyard will be taking over a large swathe of the floor and sort of creating their own convention-within-a-convention. The idea being to congregate a certain aesthetic into one condensed location — an aesthetic defined by the artists and brands taking part. These include some of LIAS’ favorites and past subjects like Kid Robot, StrangeCo, Loyal Subjects, Mimobots, artist Tara McPherson’s Cotton Candy Machine and even tokidoki, who we dedicated an entire feature to (actually, two features to). Seeing as NYCC is the second biggest nerd convention in the country (second of course to San Diego’s Comic-Con), you’re not gonna want to miss it if you live in New York. We’ll be there nerding out as well, perusing the best art, design, illustrations, collectible toys and pop-tech that the underground pop culture scene has to offer. Look forward to a mega-gallery of awesomeness not much different from what we tried to capture at the San Diego Comic-Con a couple months back. Excelsior, gentlemen — see you October 8 in the NYC…
NOTE: The Cultyard will be selling 100 signed and numbered Giclees of the Cultyard at NYCC image above, printed on archival cotton rag. It was created by the iconic Gary Baseman from the painting “Suffer” from his I am Your Pinata show, and is the first time Gary has used this image for a print. The gallery below has some limited edition Cultyard at NYCC exclusives, such as Raje Toys, N8 Van Dyke’s “Last Samurai”, AdFunture and Parra’s “Prostitute”. Best of all, however, is SEEN’s “Vandal Express” for Kid Robot, which will be making its much anticipated debut at the Cultyard.
Psssst…follow LIAS on Twitter and/or Facebook, and we’ll love you forever…
