Talk about opulence to the point of insanity, French jewelry designer Caroline Gaspard has recently released an accessory that is said to be currently the Most Expensive Belt in the World. Hurray for you, Gaspard. Marked at £40,000, which is equivalent to about $63,500 USD, Gaspard’s inspiration came from classic gangster films and spy movies, where accessories are outfitted with gadgets galore — and expensive leather is traditionally used to show off status. The belt itself is made of electric blue alligator leather, the buckle constructed of empty Kalashnikov rifle bullets. To top the whole ridiculous thing off, the bullets are encrusted with diamonds. Price is no object for the clientele that Caroline Gaspard has begun to build, “My clientele pay for the uniqueness of my design,” argues the designer, justifying the high-priced accessory. Diamonds to hold up your trousers, what more could a pathetic millionaire ask for?
