Portland 7-piece indie folkers reject the Cult of Autotune

Portland’s AgesandAges is a a seven piece allegedly non-cult band that refers to itself as a cult in the interview, so we’re confused. Considering the beautiful acoustic driven indie-folk AgesandAges play, however, we’d gladly spend a weekend in their foresty compound listening to them jam away — even if some dubious Kool-Aid were involved. Clearly eschewing the insidious Cult of Autotune, AgesandAges prefer to all gather around a single mic and sing their hearts out. And what could possibly be wrong with that? Their new album,  Alright, You Restless, drops today on Knitting Factory Records and just might be exactly what you need in this world of looming apocalypse and teetering revolution. Available on CD and LP, there’s also a limited edition color LP for diehards — the 150 limited edition pressing will be on a blue marble vinyl and packaged in 18-point card stock sleeve with a full color lyric insert. Order their latest LP HERE, and read below what AgesandAges frontman Tim Perry has to say about The Knack, Rob Oberdorfer and their beloved vintage rhinestone cheese buttons.

AgesandAges

You can find me…
In Portland

I’m usually posted up at…

You might’ve heard of me because…
A little incident that happened in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.

The best part about my job is…
Strategery

The worst part about my job is…
The part that involves things that have nothing to do with the part that is the reason why I’m apparently willing to do such things for.

If I was taking a train from Paris to Madrid, and I could choose one person to share the cabin with, I’d choose…
Rob Oberdorfer.

The first piece of music I heard that I remember waking up my ears was…
The Knack.

The last piece of music I heard that woke up my ears is…
The Dutchess and the Duke.  Hands.

The last time I saw the sun come up I was…
We drive around in our cult van and play our cult music and then we disappear back into an undisclosed location, where we hunt and gather and write more self-affirming cult songs.

The person I admire most is…
Idols and heroes, alive and dead.

The last time I lied was because…
I obviously wasn’t willing to tell the truth?

When I get my first really big check, I’m gonna go score a…
Vintage rhinestone cheese buttons.

My one magic power is…
Fructose.

And lastly, If I was Lost In a Supermarket, you’d find me in the…
