EA’s most potent racing franchise, Need For Speed, has released another edition in its much coveted catalog: SHIFT 2: UNLEASHED. As you know we did that Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Tour with EA last fall, and this latest edition builds on the superlative physics engine of that game. SHIFT 2 moves away from the strictly “pursuit” focus of the Hot Pursuit edition towards full-on track racing, featuring major improvements on the true-to-life degradation of both the race cars and the tracks themselves — the more collisions, bumps and bruises, the more your car falls apart. The damage is palpable, and masterfully rendered. Another innovation is the all new in-helmet camera angle, which lets you experience the thrill of the race from an all new intimate perspective. The idea is to make you viscerally feel every bump, every near-scraping pass, every head-jarring collision… minus the head-jarring part, of course. SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED also adds night racing — the only video game to offer it, plus many more new cars and tracks for a total 145 vehicles and 36 world class courses. SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED also features a new advanced Autolog system that lets you share and compare career stats, driver profiles, pictures, videos and personal bests with your friends in real-time. Need for Speed: Shift 2 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. PlayStation and Xbox will run you $59.95 while the PC edition costs $49.95.
