Inspired by the venerable acting legend, Persol has introduced the Steve McQueen Special Edition sunglasses. More than 30 years after his death, McQueen is still held in incredibly high regard both for his style and character — no sheen has disappeared from the halo around the King Of Cool. His love of racing and bravado still assure that manufacturers dedicate very exclusive items to his memory — much like those limited edition Barbour Tribute Jackets and Replica Bell Helmets. With over 30 films under his name including Bullitt, The Great Escape, The Cincinnati Kid, The Sand Pebbles and The Thomas Crown Affair – the original one – his commanding style is revered to this day. In homage to the star, Persol has released a special version of their PO 714 SM frames. Featuring a blue lens — a favorite color of McQueen’s— the Persol sunglasses’ design include temple closures that fold from the outside in rather than top to bottom. Also included is Steve McQueen’s signature on the inside of the temple arm and a leather case with his signature.
