Today’s mix comes courtesy of one of our favorite DFA artists, Shit Robot (aka Marcus Lambkin) — remember his “Losing My Patience” video?. Mr. Shit Robot’s put together this little minimix for Irish art, music & technology collective Synth Eastwood, and so decided to dedicate it to the work of seminal producer Andrew Weatherall. As he explains: “So, my good friends at Synth Eastwood asked me to do a minimix for their blog. I said “of course”, but what to do? I really enjoy getting the chance to do non-dancefloor mixes, but I’ve done a few before, old school acid house (Beats In Space), punk influences (Red Bull) etc., etc., etc. So, I thought, what would I have fun doing? Well, Mr. Weatherall has been a huge influence on me and I thought it might be fun to do a mix of some of his earlier work that made a big impression on me. I left off some of the more obvious stuff, My Bloody Valentine Remix (this literally changed my life), Happy Mondays, etc. in place of some things that maybe some people hadn’t heard before.” In the place of more obvious tracks Shit Robot drops the likes of Sabres of Paradise, The ORB and Primal Scream.
