Geek-inspired handmade rings, cuff links, earrings & money clips

Anyone who has watched Big Bang Theory will attest to the hotness factor surrounding Kaley Cuoco. A girl that’s tall, beautiful and blonde, but also has the wits to go toe-to-toe with two physicists is a girl that knows the path to my heart. Plus, she rocks a damn good Wonder Woman outfit to boot. For reasons as such, these pieces by artist Sue Smith should appeal to nerds, comic Con attendees and comic book geeks the world over. “I love giving a second life to distressed vintage comic books by turning them into cool jewelry or accessories,” Smith proudly exclaims on her Etsy profile, Comic Salvage. The artist met her illustrator husband in the mid-1990s and now has two young sons. Surrounded by comics daily because of her husband’s vocation, she decided to start a business using her love for art with the vast collection of comic books at her disposable. Smith finds old distressed vintage comic books — illustratively full of rich characters and scenes — and recycles them into wearable pieces of art. Her collection includes necklaces, rings, cuff links, earrings and money clips. Prices for her current pieces range from $12-21, but custom pieces are available with a $3 or more charge per extra piece (depending on comic character and its availability).
