Handcrafted Claro walnut furniture inspired by the Golden State

J. Rusten Furniture Studio has presented a new series of desks and tables inspired by the geographical shape of California. The furniture is salvaged native Claro walnut, carefully cut into the state’s iconic shape in three sizes. The gorgeous rare wood is obtained from independent sawyers since the trees are not harvested commercially at significant levels. For this reason, designer Jared Rustin decided to use the trees as a means of highlighting the geographic region from where they’ve been gathered. The untraditional desktops are finished with low-to tung-oil while the formed legs are powder-coated. Pieces range from $,1650 to $2,950, with a more expensive limited edition series here.
