Street artist INSA, known for his illustrations of ample bossomed and bottomed ladies, has released images from his ongoing public installation art project aptly titled Girls On Bikes. The idea couldn’t be more simple: he photographs voluptuous, scantily clad women riding around on bikes in front of his murals. Pretty basic, right? Well not really, cos INSA’s website claims the project is much deeper than that: “In this set of photographic works INSA orchestrates a conflicting dialogue between all the elements and explicitly subordinates the value of his own street art to both the possessed object of the bike and the overtly sexualized female presence. Thus questioning our individual perceptions of ownership of public space, of sexuality and of belonging(s).” Ummmm… really? Who would’ve thunk it, we just thought INSA liked to shoot girls with big booties riding around on bikes, when it goes so much deeper than that…
