The launch of the stunning new 12C Spider by McLaren Automotive has just been announced, the topless version of the MP4-12C Coupe (which we previewed back in 2009). With an impressive 616 horsepower output from its bespoke 3.8-liter V8 twin turbo engine, this luxury convertible sports car boasts an blistering 0-62 mph in as little as 3.1 seconds — same as the coupe, but much hairier when considering the brute force with the top down. The 12C and 12C Spider, which have now been launched in volcano red, are available in 16 other exterior paint finishes. For a value of $265,750, the MP4-12C Spider pairs spectacular performance with beachfront usability — look out for it when it hits McLaren showrooms in November.
