The world renowned architect's love of curves... on footwear

Converse taps the world famous architect Oscar Niemeyer for their latest collection of limited edition sneakers. One of the masters of modernism, Niemeyer is perhaps best known for his work creating the Brazilian capital of Brasilia from essentially the ground up — one of the greatest feats of architecture ever completed. His use of curved concrete was a signature element, a shape that can be found from his famous Cathedral of Brasília to the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum. Now his influence has been implemented into some of Converse’s most famous silhouettes, including the Chuck Taylor All Star Hi sneakers seen above with a handwritten poem that the architect wrote about curves. Other styles include the Jack Purcell, Chuck Taylor All Star Oxford, Chuck Taylor All Star Chukka Boot and Skid Grip Oxford, all in tan and white colorways with hits of red, embellished with a nod to the famed Niemeyer curve. The Oscar Niemeyer x Converse Sneaker Collection will be released only in Brazil on October 23 at exclusive retailers.
