Developed by Ducati Racing for World Superbike Championship

Exactly a year ago at this time, Ducati unveiled its gamechanging 1199 Panigale Superbike. Boasting a brand new Superquadro engine, the Panigale was the most powerful twin-cylinder motorcycle ever produced. Paired with its svelte dry weight of just 164kg, the combination bestowed the Panigale with the highest production power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratios in the world. Now Ducati unviels the 1199 Panigale “R” — the flagship of the Ducati range, specially developed with enhanced technical specification by Ducati Corse for the highly competitive environment of World Superbike. The “R” takes everything that the “S” model is currently equipped with and applies a list of enhancements to achieve even greater targets, including an increased rev-limit (up to 12,000rpm), lightweight titanium con-rods and copious carbon fiber everywhere: Single-sided swingarm protector, Clutch cover protector, Rear hugger, Rear suspension guard, Footrest heel guards, Ignition switch surround and Top fairing inner panels. Just like the 1199 Panigale and 1199 Panigale S, the “R” model will be available in the new-for-2013  arctic white color scheme, as well as the Ducati red Tricolore. All 2013 1199 models are updated with latest generation engine management mapping and Ride-by-Wire calibration, further enhancing the Ducati Superbike riding experience.
