Clearly the market for art-focused skateboard decks is a rapidly growing one, with seemingly new high end collector’s editions coming out monthly. Just last Friday we showed Hieronymus Bosch’s Garden Of Earthly Delights Skateboard Decks from Boom-Art, who’ve been making limited edition (and somewhat ribald) art decks for a minute. Now a new company is opening up shop, The SK8room, and they’ve hired superb Belgian street artist ROA to create their first three decks (titled Decay 1, 2 & 3) which display a rat in various stages of decay beautifully illustrated in ROA’s unique style. The decks are printed on 7-ply Canadian maple and will be limited to only 150 sets hand-numbered and hand-signed by ROA. You can purchase the decks HERE for about $1,235 (€ 950). The best part is you don’t even have to feel guilty about splurging on art, as 20% of all sales will be donated to Skateistan, a not-for-profit that teaches empowerment through skateboarding to children in Afghanistan and Cambodia — an excellent organization who we’ve covered before, in addition to the Burka and Prayer Board they auctioned off in order to raise funds to teach Afghanis how to skateboard).
