Gregg Gillis chills on the mashups to produce original beats
Master mashup virtuoso Girl Talk (aka Gregg Gillis) has taken the last year off of his grinding tour schedule to concentrate on making beats — like, actual beats that other people would rap on instead of sampled and layered hits. After recording a gang of songs, Gillis decided to hook up with Freeway (of Roc-A-Fella, State Property, Cash Money and now Rhymesayers fame) as the chosen rapper to helm the project. The name of the collaboration? Broken Ankles. The first track released from Broken Ankles is their track “Tolerated”, with Waka Flocka Flame lending his talents in the oh-so-violent nunchuck-and-gore laden video below. Enjoy kids…
