The long-awaited project from Gregg Gillis & Leslie Pridgen

Last week we premiered the new project from mashup mastermind Girl Talk and revered Philly rapper Freeway, dubbed Broken Ankles. It was for their “Tolerated” video featuring Waka Flocka Flame, and was basically one of the most humorously violent videos in a long bit. Fitting, as Broken Ankles is a union of high energy, stacked talent and suspected nunchuck skills. The five tracks weave seamlessly from one to the next, and include guest-artist contributions from Jadakiss on “I Can Hear Sweat,” Waka Flocka on “Tolerated” and Grammy-nominated Young Chris on “Tell Me Yeah”. Other EP tracks with just Freeway (of Roc-A-Fella, State Property, Cash Money and now Rhymesayers fame) rapping include “Lived it” and “Suicide”, with sampled beats from artists including Tom Petty, Ray Charles, Nine Inch Nails, Jimmy Eat World, and Cyndi Lauper to Outkast, KRS-One, Biggie Smalls and 5th Ward Boyz. Seeing as Girl Talk is performing this weekend at Coachella, it’d be a good guess to suspect there might be a little Freeway action on the always-hype Girl Talk stage.
