A crucial piece of film history, 2001: A Space Odyssey has been noted for its great strides in special effects, remarkable approach to storytelling, and commentary on human evolution. To honor this indelible sic-fi classic, Taschen has compiled The Making of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey box set, a completely thorough study into every cranny of the film’s creation.

The collaboration between the Kubrick estate and Warner Brothers includes four volumes of related documents, photographs and conceptual illustrations, much of which are never-seen-before material. Including written artifacts and contributions from co-screenwriter Arthur C. Clarke, these four hardcover volumes come packaged in a metal clip case and number a total of 1,384 pages. A true pinnacle reference material and honorary text on one of the most important films in cinema history. Pre-order this cinephile’s collector’s piece for $750, available this May.
