Grammy-nominated and Parisienne-bred producer DJ Snake has been on a tear recently, breaking out in 2013 with “Bird Machine”, and this year with the proper massive “Turn Down For What” with Lil Jon. This was after a slew of his trap-heavy remixes for the likes of pop heavyweights like Lady Gaga, T-Pain and Diddy. Currently on a far-flung worldwide tour, DJ Snake has upcoming appearances slated everywhere from China to Vegas — but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have time for BBC Radio, where he stopped by to assemble his very own Essential Mix. As can be expected, the two-hour mix features plenty of his rinses, both “Bird Machine” and “Turn Down For What” (which you can buy here on iTunes), plus tracks from the likes of Foamo, Dog Blood, Aaliyah, Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden, Dillon Francis, Diplo and NYMZ — not to mention a prescient Tchami remix of Rob Base & DJ Easy Rock’s seminal classic “It Takes Two”, which takes special meaning this week with the passing of DJ Easy Rock. RIP Easy Rock, and props for crafting one of the greatest hip-hop tracks of all time. Enjoy!
