I’ve been aspiring to live an interesting life my whole life but somehow, no matter how many midgets and monkeys I get to play with (there have been a few thus far), it’ll pale in comparison to Mike Edison’s vivid tales of life. His new memoir (longest title in the world, btw), I Have Fun Everywhere I Go: Savage Tales of Pot, Porn, Punk Rock, Pro Wrestling, Talking Apes, Evil Bosses, Dirty Blues, American Heroes, and the Most Notorious Magazines in the World, via Faber and Faber, comes complete with a spoken word companion (produced by Jon Spencer—think fuzz guitars and blues explosions, science-fiction synthesizers, swirling church organs, and howling spook house Theremins) of the same name. Dude was in a band with punk rock deity GG Allin, sat in the captain’s chair of porno rag Screw magazine, was the publisher of High Times magazine, was editorial director for Jewish culture magazine Heeb, he loves to bash George Bush and Condoleezza Rice, has feuded with Hulk Hogan, has had his weed stolen by Ozzy Osborne (apparently thousands of dollars of pot had gone missing from the photo shoot they were on). and is an avid chronicler of Bourbon Street strippers, nymphomaniac housewives, and motorcycle daredevils. And it’s all vividly waxed upon in the book. This guy has my vote for “Most Interesting Man.” I bet he drinks Dos Equis too.
