It’s perfect that they sell the Loaded Wallet in Kitson — in some circles, the quintessential Los Angeles boutique. L.A.: the City of Fronters. Nobody fronts like Angelinos — we are literally World Class at it. And what better way to front than to have a wallet that looks like a stack of $100 bills wrapped in an elastic band? Even when your ass is dead broke, you can pull out your wallet and it looks like your loaded. Genius. Los Angeles, we have found your perfect accessory. Pick it up for only $25 — even that corny mail room jockey at Voyeur trying to convince the actress/model/pilates trainer at the bar that he’s a big time “agent” can afford that. The $20 martini she’ll inevitably want? That’s another story altogether…

French retro helmet designer Les Atelier Ruby have long sold their helmets at Parisian boutique colette, but they have now premiered a new helmet project called “Costume“. Customize your very own helmet among 4,000 combinations, centered around their famous blue “colette” design. Seems like a good idea — most of their editions have been penned by their founder, Parisian Jerôme Coste, as well as a pantheon of top designers (Eley Kishimoto, Karl Lagerfeld and Martin Margiela — which we covered last summer — have all released unique limited editions for Ruby), but maybe it’s time to let you get in on the action. The two helmet styles Ruby makes are Pavillion and its derivative Belvedere, which comes with an articulated plastic windscreen. Both feature a carbon fiber shell, padded interior with genuine Nappa Lambskin borders, and metal Ruby emblem. While not as unique as Death Spray Custom’s “Brain Box” or as iconic as those Steve McQueen replica Bells, Les Atelier Ruby up the couture quotient for motorcycle safety. Of course it’ll cost you — the Costume will run you $775, but other styles below range from about $650 to $1,500 for Karl Lagerfeld’s black and white tweed edition. Normally Gucci sunglasses are a bit too gauche for my personal taste — what with their ornate, oversized golden signature “G”s on the temple and tinted lenses. With their new collection of “heritage” aviator sunglasses, however, Gucci have hit a successful combination of style and restraint. Aimed to resonate the hazy glamour of the 1960s, their three new heritage models (unisex 1627/S, men’s 1622/S, and women’s 3108/S) all feature the vintage red and green Gucci stripe, signature “G” logo on both temples (although not in gold, thankfully), and special edition leather case and carrying pouch. The similarly colored leather case features a striking signature stripe, and all the glasses are made in Italy. For Gucci, very reasonably priced at between $170 – $180.

This Fall Orange County-based denim ateliers COMUNE dive headfirst into the accessories market by releasing their Taylor Bag. The black wax denim travel bag features waterproof zippers throughout and large billow pockets — big enough to carry gear a few days on the road, but sufficiently compact for a quick overnighter. Known for their signature denim, COMUNE adds special details like PU handles and shoulder straps, and it’s all lined with black wax Poplin. The Taylor Bag will be available starting in Fall at select retail locations including Need Supply (VA), Oak (NY), Revolve Clothing, American Rag, Jake, Need Supply, Alter and Blackbird

From the mouth of Los Angeles-based designer Dr. Romanelli himself:

“The DRx “DETONATION” collection consists primarily of reworked 1960’s military field shirts and G1’s. I went with an original button down shape and a classic cargo silhouette for the pants . The military tote bags and caps have a loose organic fit and all have mini stories worked into their design. I experimented with reconstructing some of the fatigues into biker jackets and tried flipping a vest without any filling. There is also a small portion of DRx cutnsew utilizing deadstock textiles inspired from vintage bodies I sourced pertaining to this era.”

A lot of pieces in the collection, a selection of which are included in the gallery below including a couple jackets, vest, a hat, and various pants and bags. The jacket reminds me a bit of that TK Garment tent jacket, but that’s a good thing. More drops from the same collection still in the pipeline, we’ll keep our eye out for them…

The always avant garde Rick Owens gives us a peek at some new looks from his forthcoming Spring/Summer 2011 DRKSHDW collection. While the line includes such head turners as leather gauntlets, drop-crotch pants and long flowing sleeveless robes, it is the leather high-top zippered sneakers with oversized tongues above that really underscore Owens’ future forward, rocker from the year 2025 aesthetic. I can’t imagine wearing them, but the look will not be forgotten.

The inimitable fashion powerhouse label Comme des Garçons released their all new Luxury Group Wallet Collection (part of their new Fall 2010 offering), and London boutique Dover Street Market just received them. The wallets feature a new embossed premium leather and come in 6 different styles, in a variety of colorways. I really love pocket watches, but I’ve always assumed it was just a strange fetish. I’m the proud owner of my grandfather’s 19th century pocket watch, and although I’ve wanted to rock it out at the proper party I just couldn’t bring myself to leave the house with it — knowing my luck it would end up falling into a urinal, accompanied to the soundtrack of me shrieking like a Twilight-heated schoolgirl in clear view of Robert Pattinson. So I’ve obstained. Now Nixon has released a new line of Highball pocket watches — complete with stainless steel cases, leather inlays, hardened mineral crystal windows on lid and caseback and stainless steel chains. Not quite as nice as El Gran Jefe’s epic timepiece, but nice enough to aptly complete your look. Pick them up for $300-$400.
