Rooftop Films is getting ready to kick off their 13th year starting this weekend, May 15. Opening night is “This Is What We Mean By Short Films”—a program of dramas, comedies, animations and documentaries that could only be shorts, in an array of tales about people, polar bears and pixel-based adventurers coming together for companionship.

Can’t make it this weekend? The season will run every weekend until September 20. As always, expect a diverse range of documentaries, fiction, drama, comedy animation and more. All new, all independent, of course. And for the serious film freaks, most screenings will include a filmmaker Q & A.

Tickets are $9 at the door or you can pick them up online. Doors open at 8 pm, music starts (by Sound Fix Records) at 8:30 and the film at 9 pm.

This week’s location:
Venue: On the Open Road Rooftop above New Design High School
Address: 350 Grand St. @ Essex (Lower East Side, Manhattan)
Rain: In the event of rain the show will be Sun 5/17 at the same location.
