We come across a lot of amazing design work here at LIAS. Most people have a few things in their portfolio that really stand out and inspire you to be more creative. That’s my finding anyway. Russian born hair stylist turned industrial designer, Dima Loginoff has one of the most impressive bodies of work I’ve seen in a minute. Not many things in his repertoire that don’t standout. For reals. You can wrap a lot of adjectives around his creations, but routine isn’t one of them. He kicks ass as far as I’m concerned. I really like his “Wild Etiquette” lamp and lounge chair. Sadly it’s just a concept, though. The wood and fabric lamp and lounge chair is based on the shape of a big wave with influences by feminine curves. The seat is broken into two parts (the lounge body and fabric sunny cap, which can be removed) and is decorated with the famous “toile de jouy” fabric, which gives it a very classic vibe. Yet the form screams futuristic. “Toiles de Jouy” refers to fabric that was first manufactured at a factory in Jouy-en-Josas, btw, a village located southwest of Paris, near Versailles. Inspiring? Yes. Routine? No. Characterless? You crazy?
