Although initially baked in the searing tandoori-style oven that is the Arizona sun, you can thank Indie Band Production Factory (aka Brooklyn, NYC) for Miniature Tigers hitting the radar of music fans worldwide. Lead by singer Charlie Brand’s infinitely catchy melodies, and supported by the band’s rich instrumentals — always hopped up on some breezy keyboard lines and flushed textures — the Miniature Tigers dropped their sophomore album Fortress (Modern Art Records) this summer. Produced by Chris Chu of the morning benders, it’s quite likely Fortress gave Wes Anderson heart palpitations upon first listen — it’s dreamy and poppy, the exact music you could play to a slow motion montage of Jason Schwartzman running from some sinister threat. After conquering Lollapalooza in August and playing dates with Free Energy, the Spinto Band, Say Anything, Minus the Bear and Calexico, Miniature Tigers are now on tour with Neon Skull. Peep our Q&A with Miniature Tigers frontman Charlie Brand below, but we warn you now: don’t believe everything that you read…
