...while 1960s TV gameshow audience tries to comprehend
Pioneering experimental composer John Cage performs the genre-defining composition Water Walk on a game show in 1960. I can’t even imagine — is that why all the people are laughing, they can’t comprehend what Cage is doing? Of course, no one in 1960 had seen anything like this, so it’s understandable that they’d default to laughing. It’s why I laugh every time I see The Situation — I too cannot comprehend his avant-garde genius, and therefore my mind scrambles furiously to do what it can only do. Laugh.
