The NIKE LA Destroyers event went down last night at the old Bank of America building in downtown Los Angeles during the city’s ever hectic Art Walk. Curated by artist Erik Siador, the idea of the Los Angeles celebrating exhibit was to take 11 LA-based artists and have them create artwork inspired by 11 LA-based influencers, and then sell the pieces to benefit the Make Something Workshops. The influencers range from rappers (Casey Veggies) and DJs (DJ Vice) to fixed gear bicyclists (Michael Chacon) and prizefighters (Frankie Gomez), while artists included such heavyweights as David Flores. In addition, many customized Destroyer varsity jackets were displayed by such far-ranging personalities as Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis and Manny Pacquiao. As can be expected the exhibit hit capacity early leaving a muddled scene outside, but at least the crowd that got in was treated to open bar all night and music courtesy of J*Davey. Now that the event went down, the LA-inspired NIKE Destroyer Varsity jackets can be found at their shop online or via Blends LA and The Vault — pick up your own for between $120-$360.
