Cats, those arrogant little bastards, already think they run the show. You feed them, give them shelter, and in exchange they do what they want and, if they deem you worthy, maybe let you pet them for a minute before scratching you. It sounds like what dating Naomi Campbell must be like. So I don’t think it’s that smart a move to start interior designing around those feline primadonnas — you’re probably just asking for trouble. That’s why Belgian furniture designer Corentine Dombrecht‘s shelving unit for intellectual cat lovers seems such a dubious proposition. The book case forms cubbies for books and records of all sizes, and comes built like a cat-friendly staircase along the front and equipped with a soft sleeping basket on top — just to make their pampered lives even easier. You can stack up the three pieces to arrange them in slightly different heights and widths. Made of birch, the wood is even left in its natural state as Dombrecht discovered that stains and finishes only make it slippery for cat paws to climb on. Awwwe, poor kitty — we wouldn’t want him slipping as he ascends to his throne of dominance over his kingdom. Goddamn mooches…
