Only 125 times more accurate than most existing chronographs

TAG Heuer just announced the MIKROTIMER Flying 1000 Chronograph — the world’s first mechanical chronograph able to measure and display the 1/1,000th of a second. That’s one-thousandth, which is 125 times more accurate than most existing mechanical chronographs and 10 times faster than TAG Heuer’s eminent Carrera Mikrograph 1/100th Second watch, which was first presented in Geneva in January of this year. To put it in lay terms, in 1/1,000th of a second a Formula One racecar at full throttle travels about ten centimeters. Not much in a full race — about the length of a finger — but it can mean the difference between second place and a World Championship. While the MIKROTIMER Flying 1000 is only a concept, the TAG Heuer Carrera Mikrograph 1/100th Second will hit the market in the middle  of this year, with only 150 limited edition chronographs built, all encased in a beautiful rose gold case. Price TBA.
