Today Audi unveiled the proof-of-life video for its upcoming topless shredder, the R8 GT Spyder. The fastest drop top the 4-Rings has ever created, the soft-top GT Spyder boasts the same 5.2 liter FSI V10 as its hardtop GT counterpart, which delivers 560 hp (412 kW, 552 bhp) and 398.28 lb-ft of torque. That’s a boost of 35 horses over its regular v10 R8 Spyder brethren (which we reviewed HERE), from which the GT also sheds 187 lbs (85 kg) from thanks to the heavy use of carbon fiber polymers. The results of the power increase and weight decrease is a 0-62 time of 3.8 seconds, and a top speed of 197 mph (317 km/h). Can you imagine hitting nearly 200 mph with the top down? You’d never need a blow dryer again. The GT Spyder also sports Audi’s superlative quattro all-wheel drive, automated six-speed R tronic transmission with paddle shifters, a front splitter with a dual lip, round exhaust tailpipes, an enlarged diffuser, dark LED tail lights in a clear-glass design, a Bang & Olufsen soundsystem and Bluetooth interface with seatbelt microphone. If you want one, you’d better get ready to fork up €207,800 in Germany (about $298,000) and get in line, because only 333 Audi R8 GT Spyders will ever be built.
