Quite likely the first fixed-gear bike inspired by boardshorts

The Livery Design Gruppe’s (LDG) custom-created Phantom 4D bicycle is the latest in the capsule collection collaboration between the design company and Hurley. The award-winning Phantom Boardshorts inspired the Phantom 4D project, which Hurley launched in June in response to increased performance demands. The tech advanced Phantom Boardshorts incorporated Nike Flywire technology and feature a “biomimic” waistband that moves with the body. Using Hurley’s innovative technology as the inspiration behind the graphics, the brand commissioned the premier artist Dalek (aka James Marshall) to create the visual palette of the Phantom 4D project. Dalek designed a striking visual product by using a geometric, multi-dimensional array of color. He also invited friends of the brand to showcase their own innovations through a Phantom 4D-inspired capsule collection — which includes a limited edition run of 500 Nike Air Max 90 sneakers, a limited-edition run of 50 Phantom 4D Skullcandy Headphones (using the same technology as their MixMaster Mike headphones), and this custom-created LDG fixed-gear bike. All three products feature Dalek’s Phantom 4D-inspired aesthetic punch. Unfortunately only five limited-edition Phantom 4D bikes will be made, each one hand painted by LDG’s Joshua P. Harris and on display at select Hurley events this summer.
