It’s been a busy week for cars, but as we lead into the Frankfurt Motor Show starting today the amount of reveals will only accelerate. After a couple years of absence in the US, Audi will be making a triumphant return of their RS high-end performance line of cars in 2012 with not one but at least two models — the TTRS and the RS5 Coupé, whose images were just leaked last night. The king daddy of the A5 line-up will boast a 450-horsepower 4.2-liter FSI V8 engine which will hit 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds, as always mated to Audi’s exceptional Quattro all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. Many consider the A5 to be Audi’s most elegant vehicle (you won’t hear any argument from us), but the RS5 adds the necessary aggressiveness, width and power to elevate the Coupé from gorgeous headturner to fear-inducing street bully, boosting its top speed to a potent 174 mph. The RS5 also features a long top gear (for improved fuel efficiency), a standard seven-speed S tronic transmission, a dual-clutch, paddle shifters and an integrated launch control system. Can’t wait to see this thing in action…
