As a pioneer in the implementation of titanium in watchmaking, TAG Heuer’s vaunted Research & Development team has now developed a process enabling the use of Titanium Grade 5 — a lightweight but difficult to employ alloy normally used in aircrafts, turbines and surgical implants — in the case construction of the Monaco V4 Titanium Ruthenium and Ceramic. The exclusive edition watch is limited to only 200 pieces, and features a black ruthenium-coated case made of Titanium-Grade 5 with fine-brushed silicon nitride “ceramic” inserts. Other titanium components are the hand-applied faceted indexes on the dial, the minute and hour hands, the small second hand at 4 o’clock, the thermo-lacquered crown at 3 o’clock, and the strap’s folding buckle. The Monaco V4 Titanium Ruthenium and Ceramic Wristwatch also features a beveled sapphire crystal and an alligator strap with anthracite hand stitching and a rubberized leather lining. TAG Heuer’s Monaco V4 Titanium will retail for 71,500 (65,000 CHF).
