Aiming to make the 'Made In England' label into a truthful concept

The most iconic car in Jaguar’s illustrious history — and arguably the greatest GT of all time — the E-Type celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. And while Jag’s current XK (which we testdrove HERE) is an appropriate ode to that original E-Type, there certainly is room for a more loyal homage. It is in this pursuit that Classic Factory’s Lyonheart K was born — a very limited edition GT designed by Classic Factory founder Robert Palm and Swede Bo Zolland that is slated for actual production. Unveiled today, The Lyonheart K will be powered by a 5.0 Litre Supercharged V8 that delivers 550PS and 680Nm of torque, powering the GT from 0 to 100 kph in under 4 seconds, reaching an electronically limited top speed of 300kph. This performance is possible due to the car’s lightweight design: carbon fiber panels cover a state-of-the-art aluminium chassis that keeps weight under 3,520 lbs (1600kg). “We want to make the ‘Made In England’ label into a truthful concept, not just a statement. Every part of the Lyonheart K is developed, engineered and hand-built in England,” explains Palm proudly. “The design clues of the Lyonheart K reflect Britishness at its best: cool, elegant, refined, understated yet powerful and dynamic.” Lyonheart’s luxurious interior design philosophy is simple: no plastics, using only genuine materials: carbon fiber, leather, veneer, polished stainless steel, brushed aluminium and chromed metal. A traditional front-hinged clamshell hood even covers the aluminium engine. The Lyonheart K is entirely hand-built in Coventry by skilled craftsmen, with the 50 first cars now available for order at a basic price of $655,000 (EUR 495,000). The estimated delivery time is 18 months.
