Keyboardist Rostam Batmangilj of Vampire Weekend (and brilliant producer. See bands: The Very Best, Discovery, Boys Like Us, as well as his self-produced solo project, Rostam) has taken Carly Rae Jepsen’s ever so catchy “Call Me Maybe” and matched it up with singer, songwriter, philanthropist & Eurythmics icon Annie Lennox’s “Walking on Broken Glass”. The two couldn’t be more of an odd pairing, and even Rostam admits the song is “strictly for the lulz” per his Soundcloud. Yet, despite being just for the “lulz”, the instrumentals from Lennox’s “Walking on Broken Glass” makes the lyrics of the “Call Me Maybe” surprisingly bearable. Even when he’s not trying, Rostam still creates pop gems.
