Beijing designer Zhijun Wang has taken his pyrography detailing method to a New Balance sneaker, the New Balance HS77. You may recall his Nike Air Force 1 Low, similar in it’s detailed design, yet the HS77’s silhouette is a majority blue colorway — representative of the “Blue Dragon” hue in the Dragon Boat’s hull. A scale or ‘dragon’ pattern is found along the exterior toe and inner “N” while waves hit and enclose the heel, perhaps suggestive of the waves passed while aboard the Dragon Boat. The shoe won’t be on the market, as it is more a testament to the promotion of Chinese culture — Zhijun Wang’s dedication to design and sneaker culture.
