Burton’s outerwear sub-brand Analog has recently pioneered their “Wheel Wash” program in the introduction of their AW12 collection. The west coast company is the first and only clothing brand to use skateboard wheels instead of washing stones to soften and fade their denim. Unlike washing stones which break down the denim, the wheels are engineered to soften it, adding a smooth and cool hand feel to the jeans. The finished product, which was used to create the “Origin” Jacket above, is denim that embodies a soft brushed feel and overall relaxed look. Not only is this technique completely and utterly unique, but it also renders a sense of label pride in the product. The recycled wheels that are used to press the denim, with miles of accumulated street dirt and grease included, come fresh off the decks of Analog’s core team, riders, and their global partners. The Origin denim jacket with sherpa lined collar and flannel lining receives the heavier Crosby Wheel Wash treatment, with sanding and tacking. To have this delightfully unique wheel washed denim grace your shoulders for $145, make sure to look out for it at select retailers.
