Dutch Design concept of flat packing, applied to 2-wheels

The Sandwichbike was born of the Dutch Design principle of “flat packing”, which allows for easy shipping and then home assembly of a variety of products. Of course it has worked excellently with furniture, but this is the first time the idea has been executed to create a bicycle. As they explain, “Instead of a welded frame, we engineered a ‘sandwich’ of two weather coated frames of layered plywood. Bonded together by ‘smart cylinders’, the frames and components become a rock-solid piece of technology that is both durable and extremely attractive.” The box, seen below, comes with less than 50 pieces — including all the tools needed to build your own Sandwichbike. Price still TBA.
