The Pixies just released their first new song in almost a decade, that would be 2004’s “Bam Thwok”. The song “Bagboy”  features Frank Black at his snarky best — and while I thought the angelic vocals of Kim Deal could be heard soaring in the background, it’s actually the voice of The Bennies’ Jeremy Dubs. Bummer. Regardless “Bagboy” sounds more like vintage Pixies than some half-assed financially-spurred retread. Unfortunately for all, Deal left the band in June and was replaced by The Muff’s Kim Shattuck, which does take the wind out of their reunion quite a bit. Directed by Lamar+Nik, the “Bagboy” video is hopefully a loaded sign that a Pixies’ much rumored album will be a reality, with or without Kim Deal in the mix. At least we’ll be able to see them play live, as the band also announced a series of dates starting this September. See dates after the Jump. Rejoice!
