We’ve driven nearly every iteration of Bentley’s gamechanging Contintental GT, and never has it let us down. But to stay in the hyper-present world of automobiles, the car maker has to keep coming up with new iterations of their limited models. Whether its highly limited edition cars like the Le Mans Mulsanne or “Ice Speed Record” Continental Supersport Convertible, or even their critically blasted EXP 9 F Concept SUV, Bentley has to continually spread out their offerings to stay on the radar. Behold their latest: the S models of their realitvely new V8 line of GT Continentals. Like the regular V8 GTCs, the new S models will come in both Coupe and Convertible, and will both offer the same performance (except for top speed, which the Coupe reaches 192 while the Convertible 191). Otherwise both cars can blast from 0-60 in just 4.3 seconds, thanks in part to a pavement-rattling 502 lb-ft of torque summoned forth at only at only 1,700 rpms from its 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 lump. Best of all, it can do so while still boasting over 500 miles from a single tank — at 26.8 mpg (or 25.9 mpg for the Convertible). Try that with Bentley’s V12 GTC. The new GT V8 S also features a lowered and retuned sports suspension, sharper steering and ‘S’ signature styling cues. Look out for the new Continental GT V8 S Coupe and Convertible when they are unveiled at the Frankfurt Show on September 10th, 2013.
