You don’t have to dig much further than our logo to realize how much we respect The Clash. To wax poetic about their greatness is a total waste of time — you either get it or you don’t. If you do get it, then there’s certainly a need to get this Sound System box set. Packaged in a boombox container designed by bassist Paul Simonon, Sound System includes the first 5 of The Clash’s studio albums, all fully remastered — The Clash, Give ‘Em Enough Rope, London Calling, Sandinista! and Combat Rock. Cut the Crap, the only album released on Epic Records, is not included. In addition the boombox includes three more discs featuring demos, non-album singles, rarities and B-sides, and a DVD with previously unseen footage (filmed by both Don Letts and Julien Temple), original promo videos and live footage. An owner’s manual booklet, reprints of the band’s original Armagideon Times fanzine. What separates Sound System from many more traditional box sets are a bevy of Mick Jones and Joe Strummer associated shwag, such as dog tags, badges, stickers, a Clash poster and a giant cigarette. Naturally. You can get Sound System now at Amazon for $177.
