Baltimore producer Blaqstarr — one of the DJs who put the Bmore sound on the map, but best known for his work behind the board (M.I.A.’s “World Town” and “The Turn”, and the smash track with Rye Rye “Shake It to The Ground”) — has just opened up the vault to Mad Decent’s Jeffree’s sub-label. From deep within his music stash he’s pulled out “four of the heaviest Baltimore Club bangers” from his Supastarr era for a new EP simply titled The Blaq-Files. Although some of the tracks are Bmore classics (“Hands Up, Thumbs Down”, anyone?), they’ve been polished off with meticulous mixing and mastering to “bring massive quantities of frenetic energy to get the blood flowing in overdrive, while bearing witness to the authentic Bmore sound of the early-to-mid 2000s (2002-2006 to be exact).” Couldn’t have said it better myself.
