Montreal boutique taps Portugal-via-London producer/singer

Some really nice aural textures to get the workday going, doesn’t matter what you’re doing to pay the bills. The Montreal boutique SSENSE taps Purple for the latest mixtape in their ongoing series, one that also includes such artists as Midnight Juggernauts, Supreme Cuts, The-Drum and more. As SSENSE describes of the Portugal-via-London producer/singer:

“We can’t imagine a more perfect way to describe Purple’s music than with his own moniker: Purple is an apt match for the dark, hazy, hypnotic beats he constructs under Shlohmo’s WEDIDIT imprint. The name came up naturally and is consistent source of inspiration for the singer-producer, who has been making emotive electronica as Purple since 2011, when he released his debut self-titled record under IVVVO’s Terrain Ahead… Purple remains a bit of a mystery – with no high-profile we presence (not even a mention of his real name), the only noise Purple makes is online is with his music. No problem — we’re happy to let his 2013 EP, Salvation, speak for itself.”

Purple’s SSENSE mix begins with Art Of Noise’s 1999 classic “Il Pleure” and continues into Vangelis, Slowdive, Active Child, Night Jewel and more before ending the 37-minute set with John Maus’ “That Night”. Peep the Purple For SSENSE mixtape below…
