Um… this is a little freaky. A dancing HRP-4c cybernetic robot dances around with a quartet of human backup dancers, looking incredibly lifelike alongside them and giving me the heebie jeebies. The performance is taking place at the Digital Content Expo in Tokyo, and while it’s evident the Japanese are particularly fond of creating artificial intelligence that looks as real as possible, one has to ask: is it totally necessary that the robot look like a mini-skirt wearing school girl? What, is this the Lolita Jailbait 3000 model? I knew they had some crazy robotics coming from the Land of the Rising Sun, I just didn’t expect them to dance like some bizarre Polynesian mating ritual, that’s all… Check out the video below, it’s slightly creepy…and try to ignore the giant Frankenstein hands…
