When you say that Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s landmark 1995 debut Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version is one of the best Wu Tang Clan records, you’re basically suggesting it’s one of the best hip hop albums of all time. And you’d be right. Next to eminent classics like GZA’s Liquid Swords and Raekwon’s Cuban Linx, Return to the 36 Chambers is pure gold. In this deluxe re-issue, the completely remastered CD comes packaged with an additional bonus CD of rare tracks, remixes, instrumentals and a cappellas, plus a poster, stickers and wallet with laminated ODB welfare card. Remember when Dirt McGirt went to the Welfare Department with MTV filming and picked up a check, even though he was a millionaire? And then the cops used that to put him in jail? Man was that dude stupid crazy — it certainly wasn’t a shock when the Gods took Big Baby Jesus real early, but it sure was tragic to his fans. Word up, peace deceased scarfaces… Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version deluxe re-issue hits stores November 22nd — a week after the 8th anniversary of his death. Peace God.
