At the upcoming Bologna Auto Show, FIAT will unveil four special edition versions of its performance tuned Abarth Cinquecentos. The US-version of the Abarth-tuned 500 was unveiled last week at the LA Auto Show, surprising many with a 160 horsepower output when most were expecting only 135. While it doesn’t sound like much, it’s a significant boost from the US basic model’s 101 horsepower — that’s a 60% boost, no joke in a car as light and nimble as the FIAT 500 (which we reviewed here). Even better than the US Abarth, however, will be the Punto Scorpione special edition Abarth — one of the four special edition Abarths to be unveiled in Bologna. The Punto Scorpione will deliver 180 horsepower from its highly efficient 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, delivering a 0-62 time in a respectable 7.5 seconds. It will unfortunately be limited to only 99 units, all featuring the extremely sharp black matte-on-gloss black paintjob with a matching snowboard to boot. Pricing still TBA.
